From a wealthy family since childhood, the genius chef Gao Tianbao (portrayed by Wang Zulan) has a highly sensitive sense of smell and taste, having tried various delicacies and having very high demands on ingredients. However, due to his family's decline, he operates a small shop in the bustling streets of the capital city, specializing in making salted fish buns to make a living. Next to his shop is a noodle restaurant run by Mi Xiaoyu (portrayed by He Yanshi), who, disguised as a man, is looking for her legendary chef father, the "Master of Five Flavors," and ends up becoming frenemies with Tianbao. A street performer named Ji Muxue (portrayed by Wan Qiwen) hates evil and is both gentle and tough. Emperor Kangxi once tasted a snack called salted fish bun in his early years and never forgot about it. The fourth prince, Yin Zhen (portrayed by Huang Zhixian), secretly leaves the palace to search for it and, by chance, meets Muxue, falling in love at first sight. Yin Zhen finally finds Tianbao's secret recipe for the salted fish bun and admires Tianbao's exceptional culinary skills and serious attitude. The humble salted fish bun impresses Kangxi, and after many twists and turns, Tianbao is recommended to enter the palace's tea and meal department, becoming one of the palace chefs. Meanwhile, the court is in turmoil with the "Eight Princes Party," led by the eighth prince, Yin Ji, causing chaos by forming factions and pursuing personal gain. Nonetheless, while the palace is like a tiger's den, Tianbao, who is dedicated to the pursuit of gourmet food, becomes a "slave of the feast"...
