Haley Joel Osment is an American child star. His father is actor Eugene Osment, and his mother Theresa Osment is a teacher. At the age of 4, Haley and his parents were spotted by a director while shopping in a furniture store and he was cast in a commercial. A few months later, he portrayed Tom Hanks' son in "Forrest Gump," a role that left a lasting impression. That same year, he played Edward Asner's great-grandson in the TV series "Thunder Alley" (1994).
With his exceptional comedic talent, he went on to star in two more sitcoms after "Thunder Alley." Norman Jewison gave him the lead role in the film "Mommy" where he effortlessly portrayed the dramatic character. However, it wasn't until the hit film "The Sixth Sense" that this young actor became widely known. His outstanding portrayal of the character Cole Sear earned him an Oscar nomination at the age of 11, with praise from eventual winner Michael Caine who said, "When I heard you were nominated and saw your performance, I knew you were going to win." His performance in "Pay It Forward" was equally remarkable.
In addition to his stellar performances, he has garnered significant accolades within the industry. In Steven Spielberg's sci-fi epic "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," he starred as an intelligent robot and delivered a stunning performance. However, Osment's career did not see significant growth after that, falling into the challenge many child stars face as they transition into adulthood.
