Elisabeth Shue was born on October 6, 1963 in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. She is from a wealthy and well-educated family with three siblings, one of whom is television actor Andrew Shue. After her parents' divorce, she attended Wellesley College. Shue rose to fame for her role as Ali Mills in The Karate Kid in 1984. In 1995, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in Leaving Las Vegas.
