Simon Yam is a Hong Kong film actor. He started his career in the entertainment industry in the mid-1970s as a model. After graduating from the TVB Artist Training Class, he signed on as a contract artist and initially played supporting roles. Over time, he rose to fame, signing as a contract artist with B&B Film in 1979. Yam began his film career in 1987, often portraying mafia bosses and occasionally police officers. With a three-decade presence in the film industry, he won his first Best Actor award at the 2004 Hong Kong Film Awards for 'PTU', breaking his streak of previous nominations. He further secured the title of Best Actor at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards in 2010 for his performance in 'Gallants'.
