Started learning painting with the famous painter He Baili at the age of 17. He held multiple solo painting exhibitions since 1969 and taught painting and acted in dramas at community centers in the early 1970s. He won the first prize in the Hong Kong Open Painting Competition (1973, 1977), the Sydney Gold Award, and the Asia-Pacific region Chinese Ink Painting Selection Award (1993) among many other awards. Celebrities such as Mi Xue, Li Xiangqin, and Zhou Liqi are his painting apprentices. In 2002, his works were compiled into the book "Selected Works of Mianliang" and he established his personal studio "Qingqiuxuan" in Mong Kok. He excels in landscape painting and nature still-life in traditional Chinese painting, and his works have also appeared in TV dramas such as "The Great Four Scholars in Jin Garments", the movie "The Feast", and the popular TV series "Female Police Love Battle". Besides Chinese painting, he is also skilled in seal engraving and carving.
