Dan Wen, born in 1989 in Nanjing, is a Kunqu Opera actress at the Jiangsu Kunqu Opera Theater, specializing in the roles of Guimen Dan and Zhengdan. In 1999, she entered the Jiangsu Opera School and became the fourth-generation inheritor of Kunqu Opera intangible cultural heritage after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 2005, she played the role of Li Xiangjun in the Kunqu opera "1699 Peach Blossom Fan" directed by Tian Qinxin, and gained fame for her performance. She has won national awards such as the "Five Ones Project Award" and the title of "Five Ones Batch of High-Level Outstanding Talents" by the Central Propaganda Department.
In 2007, at the arrangement of the Ministry of Culture, she studied under the "Kunqu Queen" Zhang Jiqing. In 2009, she was awarded the title of "China Opera Red Plum Gold Flower", the Performance Award for Outstanding Young Actors at the Fourth China Kunqu Opera Art Festival, selected as one of the "Five Ones Batch" talents in Jiangsu Province, and listed as one of the objects for the "Six Major Talents Peak" training. She has also appeared in the legendary Kunqu opera "Dream of Nanke" co-produced by the Jiangsu Performing Arts Group and the Taiwan Foundation for the Development of Cultural and Artistic Projects of the Republic of China, playing the role of Princess Yaofang, as well as in the Kunqu Opera adaptation of Shakespeare's classic "Romeo and Juliet" titled "Fascinated Flower", portraying Juliet.
In 2019, Dan Wen won the highest award in Chinese drama performance - the Plum Blossom Award.
