Liu Xiaoli, born in 1959 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is a dance performer and a national first-class actress. She is the mother of actress Liu Yifei. Liu Xiaoli entered the Wuhan Song and Dance Theater to study dance in 1970. After graduating in 1976, she stayed at the theater as a dance performer. She performs various forms of dance including national, classical, and ballet, with representative works such as "Spring River Flower Moon Night," "Picking Grapes," "Death of the Phoenix," "The Spirit of the Sparrow," and "Chu Rhyme." In 1994, her performance in "Chu Rhyme" in Beijing won the "Five One Project Award" and the Ministry of Culture's Performance Award. She played the role of "Lady Xiang." In 1989, she had a solo dance performance in Wuhan. In 2008, she made a cameo appearance as the Queen Mother in the Hollywood film "The Forbidden Kingdom."
